Were These 8 Viral TikTok Products Worth the Hype in 2023?

Tic Tac it’s many things: one music discovery platforma fun way to waste an hour (or two), search engineand, more recently, a e-commerce app. With the global deployment of TikTok Store, it’s never been easier to purchase the products you see on your FYP without ever leaving the app. This means there has been an increase in the number of products – and affiliate marketing – shared on the platform. It has become the best and worst catalyst for an impulsive buyer.

“TikTok made me buy it” is now simply a way of life. For each TikTok Aesthetic proliferated through the #CleanTok app or viral video, another product is added to our carts. This has a bad influence on our wallets.

Mashable takes the hassle out of deciding which product is trending on TikTok. In fact It’s worth it by giving you a glimpse of the things the app inspired us to buy this year. So, what is a jump and what is a buy? Read below to find out.

Labigo electric scrubber dryer

I hate cleaning the bathtub. Somehow, I always end up bending over, rubbing my hands and knees, soaking wet, with a headache from inhaling the Clorox spray. My TikTok FYP is full of intense cleaning videos, and every fourth or fifth video for a while was Labigo electric scrubber dryer. I bought it to test out this story and was honestly impressed with how well it worked. It comes with four different cleaning heads for corners, flat surfaces, tubs, and grout, and is quite powerful. I was able to put a good amount of pressure on it to clean soap scum off the sides of my tub, and the corner brush worked wonders for cleaning where the tub meets the wall. The best part is that this brush cleaned my bathtub much faster than I could have done with a cloth myself, and I didn’t even have to bend down, thanks to the extendable handle. I could see the Labigo as a great tool for seniors or people with limited mobility who need to clean but have trouble bending over to clean things.

The only reason I regret buying this is because it ruined my TikTok algorithm. Since adding it to my TikTok Shop cart, almost all of the videos in my FYP are now cleaning brushes. — Jae Thomas, associate purchasing editor

The croptuck

I have to admit that the French tuck has never worked for me. Nothing about grabbing the bottom of my shirt and tugging it over the front of my jeans has ever been comfortable, and it certainly has never stayed in place. Not even QueerEye Tanning France could help me perfect the technique. So when I saw the Croptuck on my For You page, styled by women of all sizes, I added it to my cart.

The Croptuck is almost stupidly simple: it’s an adjustable elastic band that you pull over your head and adjust around your hips or waist. Tuck your top under the band and enjoy an effortless cropped look all day long.

The little group has completely changed the way I dress for winter and has thankfully banished shoddy shirts from my life. If I layer a chunky sweater over a dress, the Croptuck takes the look from bulky to chic. I usually forget I’m wearing it: my tops don’t move and there’s no uncomfortable bunching. Plus, if I eat a lot at dinner, I simply loosen the band to accommodate the extra inches around my stomach. The only downside I found to wearing the bracelet is that if you overheat and need to remove a layer of clothing, you have to remove the Croptuck with it. — Elizabeth de Luna, cultural journalist

Bissell Small Green Machine

Have the best in the world And the most adorable dog – this is a fact, not an opinion – is a blessing and a curse. The blessing? I play with a 75-pound pittie and shar-pei mix who makes me believe there are good and pure things in this world. The curse? The little guy is moulting like there’s no tomorrow.

So when Bissell Little Green Carpet Cleaner started going viral on TikTok it wasn’t a hard sell. Dozens of TikToks showed the little machine performing small miracles: removing stains, vacuuming up pet hair, removing years of grime from car upholstery. When I saw it go on sale via Fat Kid offers on the Amazon trackerI jumped at the chance.

And I have to say it works. This is not for everyday cleaning – it will wet surfaces and that will take time and effort. But this works. I’ve used it to remove stains, clean dirt from a carpet, and vacuum up piles of hair left on our couch by the world’s best dog. Every two weeks I deep clean appropriate surfaces in our small NYC apartment with the little green machine and it makes a noticeable difference. There’s a lot less dust, less pet dander, and everything smells great.

In addition, you get to see the brownish result in the machine tank, and it is SO satisfying. I highly recommend it, especially if you have a dog. Even if it’s not the best dog in the world – it’s not, I’m sorry – the machine will still work for you. — Tim Marcin, cultural journalist

Ultra shiny lip

I love blurry matte lipsticks, but not my chronically dry lips. After seeing around 1,200 TikToks praising the Ultra shiny lip, I figured I could try being kinder to my lips during the colder months, so I gave in and bought it in Pony (the shade closest to my beloved Gen G in Fuzz). I think it’s very slightly sticky – ultimately, I’m a satin to matte girly formula through and through – but it’s perfect for drier days, and for that I’m grateful to my algorithm. — Bethany Allard, business journalist

The AIRstik

I can’t stay away from the AIRstik, the little plastic device that claims to attach to any glass surface and hold your phone there so you can take photos hands-free. It’s been almost two months since I bought it, and it’s still all over my For You page. It’s been praised on the app as a must-have tool for creators who want to create content on the go, and I think it’s hanging around my algorithm because, well, it actually works.

The AIRstik uses what it calls “nano-suction” technology to adhere to glass surfaces and support up to two pounds. It is infinitely reusable and leaves no sticky residue. Mine clings to my bathroom mirror like a dream and comes off with one quick movement. The product packaging warns “for use on glass surfaces only!” » but TikTokkers managed to attach it to their shower tiles, refrigeratorsand even a rusty pipe at the beach. Stay at your own risk, but know that the AIRstik is a pretty good deal when all is said and done. -EDL

Amika Blowout Babe Thermal Brush

Technically I didn’t buy the Amika Blowout Babe Brush myself, but I’m certainly not complaining that I had to call one up and test it out at work after seeing the hype online (review btw). Before testing as Lots of Airwrap dupes I was able to get my hands on (and the real tool himself), I didn’t consider myself to be “good” at hairdressing. Even though I’m still solidly mediocre, the Amika Blowout Brush is perhaps the easiest way to achieve a sleek, polished blowout style that makes me feel like I have a much higher skill set. Plus, I love that I don’t need to wet my hair when I want to use it. — B.A.

Mini ice cube trays

I somehow got to IceTok in 2023. My FYP became saturated with videos of people aesthetically restock their freezers with ice cube trays of different shapes and fillings. Something about it hit that sweet spot of ASMR and aesthetic home organization that absolutely fascinated me. I was prompted to purchase a set of ice cube trays that make mini spherical ice cubes, and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to using standard ice cube trays. These are harder to fill than your average mold, but once you get the hang of it, it’s not so bad. The set I purchased came with a storage bin, allowing me to stock up on deliciously round ice cream and remove it as needed. I stick to tap water ice, but I drink in my Simple modern tumbler filled with tiny frozen spheres always makes me feel like a TikTok girl. —Miller Kern, Associate Reviews Editor

Baggu Medium Nylon Crescent Bag

Believe the TikTok hype. Baggu’s Medium nylon croissant bag is actually magical. And by magically, I mean spacious. I can fit my entire S’well water bottle in there along with my makeup back, my Hello Kitty pill case, my sunglasses, my wallet and a book or two. I even put my raincoat in it on cloudy days. This has become my favorite gig bag, because it’s still small enough for most venues but also large enough to hold merch and a camera – and since it’s nylon and washable, I don’t mind carrying it. put it on the ground at the risk of being trampled. or overturned. (Don’t put your Baggu in the dryer, it air dries only!) Did I mention this bag comes in virtually every color? I recently purchased the Sandy Liang x Baggu medium nylon Crescent bag with the flower market plaid print, and it makes me feel better than everyone else when I wear it.

Anyway, I am convinced that Baggu is a cult because in a span of 365 days, I went from one Baggu to eight Baggus. Do I need eight Baggus? No, but I’m easily influenced, and something tells me I’m not alone if the 246.1 million views on TikTok are anything to go by. — Crystal Bell, culture editor
