Megyn Kelly predicted Tuesday that former President Donald Trumpwho comes from lost a second defamation lawsuit against E. Jean Carrollwill also be removed from the jury hearing the case in which he is accused of illegally paying $130,000 to a porn star. Stormy Daniels.
Speaking on her self-titled podcast, Kelly lamented the outcome of Carroll’s case, exclaiming: “This is the same kind of jury he’s going to have over Stormy Daniels’ hush money.” He has no chance of winning.
The “silence” trial is scheduled to begin on March 25 in New York. Trump faces 34 counts for allegedly paying Daniels to cover up his affair with her. Prosecutors say he tried to deduct money from his former lawyer Michael Cohen as legal fees.
Kelly, a staunch conservative, also said that watching Carroll “celebrate this absurd verdict” with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow “turned his stomach.” She added that the verdict was “a political coup from the start.”
As she told guest Glenn Beck: “They make her (E. Jean Carroll) like she’s the champion…I like revisionist history, like she’s just this woman who was unfairly targeted by Trump… When in fact, once again, we believe it. that the law was changed in New York to allow this lawsuit against Trump by a Democrat who hates Trump.”
She then compared Carroll to Christine Blaisey Ford, who testified during Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation hearings that the judge sexually assaulted her in the 1980s, calling both instances the “astroturf movement.”
As you may recall, in 2014, Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson sued the then-president. Roger Ailes for sexual harassment, a lawsuit soon joined by several other women working within the network. In 2016, after her departure from Fox News, Kelly revealed in her memoir that she had also been sexually harassed by Ailes, although she did not participate in the trial, and she later said she regretted not having done more.
This historic case inspired the 2019 film “Bombshell,” in which Charlize Theron played Kellt.
The Daniels case is just one of several upcoming cases and trial dates for Trump: He is also scheduled to appear in court in Florida on charges of misappropriating classified documents after leaving the White House; federal charges for attempting to overturn the results of the 2016 election; and the state files suit in Georgia for additional election interference.
Trump attempted to have the criminal prosecution in Daniels’ case moved from state to federal court, an attempt he ultimately abandoned in November.
