Google’s 2023 search year was ruled by ‘The Last of Us’

Released last January, The last of us dominated Google searches this year.

The HBO adaptation of Naughty Dog’s beloved game was the most searched for TV show in 2023 worldwide and the second most searched for game, despite being released 10 years ago. In a wave of Internet thirst undeniably associatedstar Pedro Pascal was the fifth most searched actor, with Hawk EyeIt is Jeremy Renner at the top of the list alongside WednesdayIt is Jenna Ortega.

This is just one of the trends revealed by Google in its annual report Year in research trend report, released by the company on Monday.

So, that year, the most searched terms in the news for 2023 were “War in Israel and Gaza”, “Titanic submarine”, “Earthquake in Turkey”, “Hurricane Hilary” and “Hurricane Idalia,” a powerful reminder of the most devastating events of the year. (and ongoing) moments.

From an entertainment perspective, the most searched for films were barbie, Oppenheimer, Jawan, The sound of freedom, And John Wick: Chapter 4while the most searched TV shows were The last of us, Wednesday, Ginny and Georgia, One piece, And Kaleidoscope. The most searched games were Hogwarts Legacy, The last of us, Connections, Battlefields in IndiaAnd Star Field.

Google also detailed the main songs searched by Internet users with its Recently released “Hum to Search” featurewith “Bones” by Imagine Dragons at the top, followed by “Kesariya” by Arijit Singh and “Idol” by YOASOBI.
