This is the astonishing moment a spontaneous folk music show broke out on a Ryanair flight from Belfast in Lanzarote with one passenger playing the violin and another doing an unplanned Riverdance.

Musician Sean Magee launched into a lively rendition of ‘Las Vegas in the hills of Donegal”, made famous in the 90s by the folk group Goats Don’t Shave.

Accompanied by fellow musicians Nathan Carter and Matthew Crampsey, the trio are currently among the biggest names in Irish folk music.

Video taken from the flight shows fellow passengers laughing, singing and clapping as the plane heads to the Canary Islands.

And while the song was playing, a passenger suddenly stood up and started doing a Riverdance, getting into a fun spirit on the plane.

The footage was recorded by Danny Walters who was going on holiday with his wife.

Sean, also on vacation with his wife, asked his friend to “pass him the violin” halfway through the flight, Danny claims.

“We got on the plane and the boys were sitting behind us,” Danny said. “About an hour later we heard someone say ‘Guys, let me play!’ »

“Sean had paid for an extra seat for his violin, so he didn’t have to leave it in the hold.

“I was just sitting in front. So once I saw the violin coming out, I took out my camera.

“Then all hell broke loose in Las Vegas, in the Donegal hills – everyone loved it!

“I think it really shortened the flight for all of us.”

Danny even met the musician during their Lanzarote holiday – when the couple decided to stop by one of Sean’s gigs on the island.

“While we were in Lanzarote, a few of the boys from the plane had gigs, so we went there for fun – and they were very good!”
